Summertime To-Dos – Easy as 1-2-3

Homeowners, when you take stock of the seasonal home maintenance you need to do, don’t forget to include an inspection and/or tune-up of your HVAC equipment. Though largely unseen, your heating and cooling equipment contributes directly to your home comfort and represents a big investment. It’s best to take good care of it and make sure it is running safely and efficiently.

Here is what we recommend:

  1. Tune-Up: Spring is the best time to get a cleaning and efficiency check of your equipment. Cleaning your burner, before “tucking it in” over the summer, reduces condensation and related problems. A/C systems will benefit from a pre-season check. It’s a win-win!
  2. Change or Clean your Air Filters: Whether A/C or Heat, your filters should be changed regularly to ensure the air quality in your home remains excellent. Clean filters will also improve the efficiency of your unit. Ask about HEPA filters which last up to 6 months.
  3. Ductwork check: If you haven’t had your home’s air ducts checked in a while, it’s possible that there are leaks in the ductwork which would impede efficient air circulation and run up your energy bill. Get them cleaned and checked now.

Summertime is the BEST time to have this work done – before you turn on your heat again or rely on you’re A/C in mid-summer. Your equipment will work better, cleaner, and you will save money in the long run.
